Galatasaray victory in Berlin: 33 police officers injured at fan celebrations!
Last Sunday, May 22nd, 2025, there were tumultuous scenes in Berlin when fans of the Turkish football club Galatasaray Istanbul celebrated their championship. Around 2,500 supporters gathered on the Kurfürstendamm and took the opportunity to celebrate the third championship title as a result of the association. However, numerous firecrackers were also ignited and bottles and stones were thrown on emergency services, which led to a massive police operation. A total of 33 police officers were injured, four of them had to stop their service, such as the reported.
The celebrations not only attracted cheering fans, but also a large number of civil servants. At the corner of Kurfürstendamm/Joaachimsthaler Platz, the police were heated up with firecrackers and other throwing objects, which led to an use of irritant gas. The police managed to prevent a closed march of a group of people to the Breitscheidplatz at 10 p.m. A car corso with around 200 vehicles also moved through the city, while other fans in a bar on Dresdener Straße ignited Pyrotechnik.
