Bicycle campaign on Lake Fennsee: Practice for children and adults on August 29th
New focus on safe mobility: practice route on the Feensee for young and old
On Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. , a special initiative on Fennsee, between Wallenbergstrasse and Mecklenburgischer Strasse, will be launched. This campaign aims to give both children and adults the opportunity to learn cycling and try out their skills on cargo bikes.
This event is organized by the Wilmersdorf Youth Transport School in cooperation with the green space office. A central goal of this initiative is to promote safe mobility within the community. The excitement and anticipation are noticeable, since the event not only serves as a learning platform, but also contributes to raising awareness of secure cycling use.
At the kick -off event, bicycles for children are provided for who cannot bring their own bikes. In order to increase security, the police on site will offer bicycle labels for theft prevention. To do this, the participants need proof of ownership, such as a purchase receipt and their identity card. Wilmersdorf's mobile district work will also provide drinks to make the exhausting day more pleasant.
In the coming months, this exercise route will also be supervised by the GESUFIT Berlin e.V. association, which will offer support in small streams in addition to the exercises. With the opening of this temporary practice route, the use of the Stichstrasse is seamlessly integrated into everyday life for many citizens during this time of year and opens up new opportunities for practical use learned.
The social space-oriented planning coordination and the quality development of the district coordinate the event as part of the district project. This project promotes the movement and is part of a nationwide approach to strengthen municipal movement funding.
The background to this initiative is the increasing realization that both children and adults have difficulty cycling. This challenge is supported by the results of the schooling examinations that show additional exercise needs in the motor area. The demand for practice roads is not only limited to children, but also includes adults who feel unsafe when cycling or who want to learn this ability.
As a result of the cooperation of various actors, including local associations and environmental protection offices, a room is created in which the knowledge learned can be put into practice. Such initiatives are important to increase the quality of life in the region and to promote a safe environment for all road users.
In summary, the campaign on the Feensee shows how committed organizations, authorities and the community can work together in order to promote safe mobility for everyone and thus strengthen the cohesion in the neighborhood.
