Federal government hires reform for psychiatric hospitals

In a huge outcry, the Federal Psychotherapist Chamber (BPTK) has targeted the Federal Government! The reason? A sobering signal: In the current legislative period, there will be no single proposal to improve the worrying personnel situation in psychiatric and psychosomatic hospitals. A real scandal!

"This is responsible ping pong," criticizes Dr. Andrea Benecke, the President of the BPTK, the government's idle acts. "The result is clear: to date, patients have not received any additional minute psychotherapy in mental clinics!" Dr. Benecke loudly demands clarity and urges a new legal mandate to be developed to determine who is responsible. Is it the BUND or the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA)?

The G-BA remains casual and points out that the legal design of the staffing in psychiatry only determines “minimum requirements”. The BPTK emphasizes that the implementation of the coalition agreement - to ensure a need -based staffing - is now imperative! The pressure is growing, because insufficient equipment not only endangers the care of the patients, but also the future of specialist psychotherapists.

Quality of further training in danger

Benecke makes it clear: "Psychiatres are elementary further training centers." It demands legal framework conditions that enable psychotherapeutic further training positions. The crucial question remains: Who is responsible for personnel costs in the hospital budget? The answer is clear: it is the federal government! Without adequate further training in psychiatres, the future of specialist psychotherapists threatens, and that is alarming!
