Federal government in delay: Energy Sharing before breakthrough?
Federal government in delay: Energy Sharing before breakthrough?
The Federal Government urgently has to make suggestions for Energy Sharing
Berlin, 08.08.2024: The EU has been calling for the implementation of energy sharing opportunities since 2021. The Federal Government has announced that it has been submitted to a bill, but it has so far been owed. Bee President Dr. emphasizes time, emphasizes Simone Peter.
Energy Sharing enables regional electricity consumers such as private households, municipalities and small to medium -sized companies to mutually agree to citizens' energy companies and to jointly operate systems for the use of renewable energies. This allows these companies to supply themselves with their generated electricity. In order to make this economically viable, it is important to continue the market premium for the renewable energy systems involved. In addition, the initial additional costs for the companies involved should be covered by an energy sharing premium. This premium should be paid directly to the citizens' energy companies per kilowatt hour used. Similar models already exist in other EU member states, such as in Austria with its energy communities, which have also been approved by the EU Commission.
Despite the urgency and the already passed deadline for implementation, the Federal Government has so far not submitted a specific proposal for the legal framework of the Energy Sharing. Together with the Alliance Citizens' Energy, the DGRV and other partners, the BEE has already developed a concrete model for the implementation of the Energy Sharing, which is widely approved. It is now time for the federal government to release its long -announced draft for association participation and take into account the detailed proposals. By implementing the energy sharing, democratic participation in the energy transition is strengthened and at the same time increases acceptance for the expansion of renewable energies. It is important that people in the country can actively participate in the energy transition and are not just passive residents of renewable energy systems.
The introduction of Energy Sharing leads to financial relief for consumers and at the same time enables active participation in the energy transition. It creates incentives for a decentralized consumption of renewable energies and increases acceptance for expansion. The suggestions for the implementation of the Energy Sharing are already on the table and it is time that the federal government takes care of this topic. This is the only way to become an energy sharing a solid basis for the broad participation of the people in the country.
Further information can be found in the BEE position paper "Corner points of an energy sharing model".

meaning of the energy sharing for the energy transition
The Energy Sharing is an important way to advance the energy transition and increase the acceptance of renewable energies. Through the formation of citizen energy companies, local electricity consumers can jointly operate renewable energy systems and thus supply themselves. This leads to financial relief for consumers who are no longer just passive residents of renewable energy systems, but can actively participate in the energy transition. So far, however, the Federal Government has been guilty of a specific proposal and it is time for it to act here. Energy sharing can be a good basis for the broad participation of people in the expansion of renewable energies.
