Federal Psychotherapist Chamber calls for guideline -friendly psychotherapeutic care in clinics
On the occasion of the first reading on the Hospital Service Bessery Act (KHVVVG) in the German Bundestag, the Federal Chamber of Psychotherapist (BPTK) calls on the parliament to ensure guideline -friendly psychotherapeutic care and a need -based staffing in the psychiatric. BPTK President Dr. Andrea Benecke criticizes that the current clinic reform neither improves the staffing nor creates enough further training positions for psychotherapists in the clinics. The BPTK demands that the PPP guideline are supplemented by quality specifications for a guideline-friendly treatment.
The Federal Cabinet has not included the urgently needed improvements for the inpatient care of people with mental illnesses in the cabinet decision to the KHVVG, although this was agreed in the coalition agreement. There is a lack of guideline -friendly psychotherapeutic care and sufficient staffing in the psychiatric ones. In addition, no financial framework for additional training positions in clinics were taken into account in the KHVVVG design in order to have enough specialists for psychotherapeutic care in the clinics in the long term.
The BPTK's demands are particularly relevant against the background of the current situation in Berlin psychiatry. In Berlin there is a high demand for psychotherapeutic care, both outpatient and inpatient. However, the staffing in psychiatres is scarce, which leads to long waiting times for those affected. The lack of guideline -friendly treatment also complicates effective therapy.
Historically, psychiatric care in Berlin has an eventful history. During the National Socialism period, thousands of mentally ill people were killed in Berlin clinics. After the Second World War, psychiatry was then reformed to ensure decent treatment. Nevertheless, the problems in psychotherapeutic care are still not fully solved. In order to better understand the current problems in psychotherapeutic care in Berlin, a table with relevant information can help:
| Problem | Causes | Effects |
| —————- | ——- | ————– |
| Squeezing staffing in psychiatres | A lack of financial resources, low interest in psychiatry as a department Long waiting times for those affected, difficult treatment |
| Missing guideline -friendly treatment A lack of implementation of the PPP directive, lack of quality requirements | Restricted effectiveness of the therapy, lower success rate |
| Lack of training positions for psychotherapists | Financial bottlenecks in the health system, lack of incentives for clinics | Long -term risk of lack of personnel, restricted care options |
It remains to be seen whether the German Bundestag will take up the BPTK's claims and take appropriate measures as part of the Hospital Serviation Act. Psychotherapeutic care in Berlin urgently needs improvements to ensure adequate treatment of mentally ill people.
