Federal President Steinmeier comes to Nordhorn: Talks with citizens!

Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier moved from Tuesday to Thursday to Berlin to Nordhorn, a city with 55,000 inhabitants in the Grafschaft Bentheim district. As part of his program "Local State Germany", Steinmeier wants to talk to the citizens directly. Spontaneous encounters as well as discussions with local politicians and a citizen discussion about immigration are planned, which is controversial under the title "coffee table". Steinmeier wants to find out what gives people hope and courage and what concerns they say about democracy.

Nordhorn, a city in a change from the former textile location to a diverse business location, is the 13th station of Steinmeier's program throughout Germany and its first in Lower Saxony. Mayor Thomas Berling is enthusiastic and would like to take the opportunity to present the city's progress, such as re -connection to rail traffic. Details on Steinmeier's visit can be found in a report at www.borkenerzeitung.de .
