At the same time, the payment card for refugees is also introduced in Berlin, where a similar amount of cash is valid. Social Senator Cansel Kiziltepe (SPD) told the Nordkurier that the upper limit for cash is limited to 50 euros to six months. This was initially controversial because Kiziltepe was originally against the limitation. Over time, however, the upper cash limit should be canceled, so that the full services in accordance with the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act are also available in cash. The introduction of the map aims to organize migration and prevent money from being transferred to criminal tractors.

Overall, this development illustrates that both Brandenburg and Berlin take a step towards a uniform regulation for the financial support of asylum seekers, but with different schedules and conditions for the use of the payment card.
