Berlin Health Prize 2025: Strong projects for mental health in everyday school life
The Berlin Health Prize 2025: A step to strengthen mental health in schools
The promotion of the mental health of children and adolescents has increasingly become the focus of the public in recent years. In particular, the effects of corona pandemic have led to an increase in psychological stress in many young people. Against this background, the Berlin health prize is advertised for the 14th time, under the motto "Strong school, strong soul". This prize, initiated by the Berlin Medical Association and the AOK Federal Association, is intended to honor outstanding projects that are committed to mental health in the school environment.
The current tender is aimed at everyone who has developed innovative and practical approaches to strengthen mental health. A total of 50,000 euros are available as prize money, and the application period runs by November 30, 2024. In order to shine in this category, the projects submitted should already be able to show success in practical implementation.
The price is not only an award, but also an important impulse for society. Dr. Carola Reimann, CEO of the AOK Federal Association, emphasizes the need to create a culture of open dialogue about psychological stress: "To enable young people without talking about their mental challenges without fear, it is essential to create a supporting environment that should be anchored especially in schools."
In Germany, around 14 million children and adolescents under the age of 18 live. Studies have shown that around 25 percent of this age group suffer from psychological abnormalities such as fears or depression. Despite the recovery of the immediate Corona consequences, the young people are increasingly worried about the young people and climate change. This shows how important it is to take preventive measures.
The topic of mental health is particularly relevant in the school context, since the school is an integral part of the life of young people. Psychological stress in childhood can have long -term consequences and increase the risk of later illnesses. PD Dr. med. Peter Bobbert, President of the Medical Association of Berlin, underlines the connection between physical and mental health: "By starting early and creating preventive offers, we would like to fight this development effectively."
The award ceremony takes place in the summer of 2025 and is decided by an independent jury of experts who evaluates the submitted work according to quality and effectiveness. Projects in cooperation with health insurance companies or regional institutions are expressly welcome, which strengthens cooperation in the community and promotes innovative solutions.
The topic of health is significant for society. The Berlin Health Prize, which has been awarded every two years since 1995, aims to promote exemplary initiatives and quickly implement it into practice. After all, the quality of health care depends heavily on how well it is to recognize and treat mental illnesses at an early stage.
