Go on a sonorous journey into the world of Japanese music and culture!

If you are interested in Japanese music and culture, you have the opportunity to enjoy a unique experience in the artotheque of the district central library in Berlin on September 21, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Under the title "Immerse yourself in the world of Japanese music and culture", Ms. Ritsuko Takeyama, a master of traditional Japanese music, will give a fascinating lecture on the traditional Japanese string instrument Koto.

The Koto an instrument with 13 strings that has a long history and deep cultural importance in Japan. Ms. Takeyama will not only talk about the history and meaning of the Koto, but also give the participants the opportunity to experience this unique instrument live and hear his special sounds.

After the lecture, visitors have the chance to take part in a workshop where they can try out the Koto themselves and learn more about playing technology. Entry to this event is free, but it is requested to register in advance because the number of participants is limited.
