Construction work on the Hindenburgdamm: New heat supply for Steglitz-Zehlendorf

Important measures to improve heat supply in Steglitz-Zehlendorf

Berliner Energie und Wärme AG (Bew) has been carrying out extensive construction work on the Hindenburgdamm since the end of 2022. The project includes the expansion of the district heating network, which aims to significantly improve the heat output in the region and at the same time support the climate goals of the State of Berlin.

Measures to increase supply security

The construction extends over a route of about three kilometers with a total of 13 construction phases, the supply line between the Haxhower Work Lichterfelde and the Handelplatz is installed. The work is significant for future heat supply in Steglitz-Zehlendorf, as they are intended to ensure higher security security.

Current construction work and traffic restrictions

The third construction phase (3.3) is currently being set up, whereby the work is planned from August 2024 to November 2025. In this project phase, the road between Klingsorstraße and Haydnstraße towards Steglitz is closed. In order to maintain traffic, it is led on a road in both directions.

Information for residents and traders

Bew has already informed all residents and traders about the upcoming work. This ensures that the citizens concerned know in good time about the traffic disruptions and the importance of the project.

Long -term goals of the construction work

The complete construction work is planned for 2026. This extensive measure is part of Berlin's strategy to improve heat supply, compliance with climate goals and to ensure that the city can continue to offer adequate and sustainable heat supply in the future.
