Azubi-Hotel Berlin: youngsters in the hotel industry takes over the helm

A bold step into the future of the hotel industry: 13 committed trainees have taken over the scepter in the trainee hotel in Berlin Mitte and show what they can do!

The shortage of skilled workers is on everyone's lips, and now there is a fresh wind in training: In the trainee hotel of the Living Hotels, 13 prospective hoteliers from all over Germany take responsibility-and that for six weeks! It is not just learned here, there is a living here!

An event of an extra class: trainees master hotel operation!

From the moment of sunrise, a touch of excitement blows through the hall of the hotel. While the first guests take a seat at breakfast, the trainees are in full action. Everything has to be in the flow! Eleni, Nicole and Gelson coordinate the preparations like true professionals. While the pineapple slices are artfully arranged on the breakfast plate, Eleni is already calling up the order for the cappuccinos and ensuring that no guest has to wait a long time for his drink.

But that's just the beginning! At the reception, Kevin Lang and Hamedeh are available to handle new bookings and help guests with their concerns. No things are done here, every move is sitting, and the trainees prove that they do justice to their reputation!

Mission: Future Boss - Tomorrow!

"I really wanted to participate," says Kevin (20), who is in the third year of apprenticeship and was already there at the first trainee hotel. "I learned so much and had fun!". This initiative aims to convey a feeling for reality to the trainee and prepare it for the challenges of professional life. It's about developing management qualities and taking responsibility.

After the overwhelming success of the first season, it was clear: The trainee hotel should become an integral part of the training! "We noticed that interest and feedback are positive," emphasizes Sophia Pfundstein, the training management. "The young people come back more confidently and more motivated!"

A springboard to professional life - learn in a team!

In a large shared apartment, the trainees live in their own apartments and go to “their” hotel every day. Errors are allowed! "The girls and boys have to be allowed to work independently," explains Marcus Kaiser, director of the hotel. There is also a vocational school day, workshops and training every week. Learning not only takes place here theoretically - work is done here!

The trainees even take over the company's social media channels, create their own content and show the world how exciting their new life in the trainee hotel is. Under the motto "Mission Future Boss", the future will be made up close.

nature and social issues: a holistic approach

A weighty plus is the new “green week” in the training program. Here the trainees not only get to know the basics of sustainability, but also experience a day in the Berlin animal shelter. "It is important to see how much appreciation you can achieve through your commitment to others," says Sophia, adding that the trainees will be handed over to the shelter around 22,396 euros.

The numbers speak for themselves: Around 70 percent of graduates remain in the company after training! Living Hotels thus impressively shows that creative training not only promotes young people, but also ensures the future of the entire industry.

"Our trainees are a great troop and extremely motivated," says Sophia Pfundstein. "And they bring a breath of fresh air from all the countries from which they come!" The diversity is very important with an age range of 18 to 35 years and participants from Madagascar, Colombia, Angola, Vietnam and Iran. These young people are full of enthusiasm and commitment to rock the hotel industry!

For all those who want to take a look behind the scenes, the trainee hotel has exciting insights to offer social media. Be there when the future of the hospitality is forged!
