Anti -Semitic and anti -Israel slogans at the demonstration in Berlin - police investigated

The demonstration last Saturday in Berlin-Kreuzberg, which was directed against global oppression, was largely peaceful. However, anti -Semitic and anti -Israel slogans were chanted during the protest. A larger group called the slogan "From the River to the Sea, Palestine Will", which is of importance that Palestine should reach from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean - the area that is currently occupied by Israel. The slogan was documented by various accounts on the "X" platform, including the Jewish forum. The public prosecutor's office classified the use of this slogan a week and a half ago.

The public prosecutor sees a suspicion of sedition in the slogan, since this is where Israel's right to exist is questioned. Paragraph 130 of the Criminal Code stipulates that hatred or calls to violence against national, racial, religious or ethnic groups are punished. Sliding such as "Death to the Jews" are already prohibited, while other slogans that attack Israel are considered to be expression.

The demonstration started in the late afternoon and originally had 500 registered participants. However, 3500 people were present at the top. Cursions were injured during the protest and the police were therefore excluding the loudspeaker car from the demonstration train. After the demonstration, it remained largely quiet because the police were in use with a massive contingent and water cannons to prevent riots. Although smaller groups gathered in the area of Sonnenallee/Reuterstrasse and partially threw firecrackers, the police were able to prevent larger accumulation. The security situation in Berlin has intensified hundreds of people since the Hamas attack on Israel and a massacre, which is why the police have massively strengthened their emergency services.
