The numbers speak volumes! Over 80 percent of those surveyed already have experiences with solo trips. Ancaled clichés about solo travelers? Are you kidding me? Are you serious when you say that! A total of 62 percent travel alone several times a year! Yes, you heard right! City trips are at the top of the wish list of the solo adventurers (71 percent), closely followed by sunny resort vacation trips (50 percent) and exciting outdoor adventures (45 percent). Freedom and flexibility are the mantras of this new travel culture!

How exciting is it to challenge yourself when traveling? Almost half of Generation Z would like to prove itself, while the older generations (Millennials, Gen X and Baby Boomer) are looking for their hectic everyday life after recovery. It's not just about traveling - it's a way to take time for yourself. And what about the conviviality? Almost every fourth (24 percent) feels much more open to make new acquaintances when traveling. Who knows, maybe even experiencing a hot vacation flirt? A quarter of the solo travelers even prefer double rooms for couples to the simple single room. Who would have thought?
Dine alone - the hit!
Among the Germans, the "Dinner for One" is much more than just a TV classic! Almost 90 percent have dared to visit a restaurant alone. This new freedom of food has accepted explosive trains! Almost half of the pleasure people are eating alone at least once a month. Those who travel alone are looking for new taste experiences in restaurants (56 percent). An exciting result: Solo gourmets spend an average of 72 percent more than their companions!
According to Lea Stadler from Opentable, the results are not just an indication of culinary freedom. "Restaurants react to this trend with sociable dining area and creative menus that ensure an inviting atmosphere," says Stadler. In 2024 the solo dining becomes an absolute must-try among gourmets!Jesse Woods from Kayak summarizes: "The times of the stigmatization of solo travelers are over. An independent life is not only desired, but actively lived!" The longing for new inspiration and unforgettable experiences is stronger today than ever!
