Action against hunger: Karina Lehmann takes over the management area programs & advocacy
Karina Lehmann takes over the management of the programs & advocacy department at the aid organization Action against hunger. She succeeds Jörg Mühlbach, who switches internally to another post. Lehmann has more than 15 years of experience in humanitarian aid and development cooperation and has worked in different countries worldwide. She is a fully Germanist and a proven expert in humanitarian international law. Lehmann would like to use her many years of experience to bring about long-term changes and to advance the program and advocacy work from action against hunger. She would like to pay particular attention to the promotion of diversity, equality and inclusion.
Action against hunger is an international aid organization that is active in 55 countries and regions worldwide. The main goal of the organization is to combat malnutrition and to create access to clean water and health care. With the support of around 28 million people and more than 8,990 employees worldwide, the organization provides emergency aid and is committed to building sustainable livelihoods.
Karina Lehmann brings extensive experience in war and crisis texts in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe. Before moving to action against hunger, she worked for the International Committee from the Red Cross in various management positions. Lehmann has already worked in Geneva, the Republic of Moldova, Iraq, Israel and the occupied Palestinian areas, the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan and Nigeria. Before that, she worked for the German Red Cross in Southeast and South Asia as well as for the technical relief organization in Bonn.
With her change to action against hunger, Karina Lehmann, as head of the Programs & Advocacy division, will support the strategic goals of the organization and strengthen its international network. Jan Sebastian Friedrich-Rust, managing director of action against hunger, emphasizes the successful further development of the Programs & Advocacy division by Jörg Mühlbach in the past five years and is confident that Lehmann is now excellently positioned for the future.
