ADAC Staubilance: Staubeisen is not yet reached in Hesse - level of 2019
ADAC Staubilance: Staubeisen is not yet reached in Hesse - level of 2019
ADAC Staubilance: Damage revenue continues to increase / level of 2019 not yet reached
In 2023,drivers were in a traffic jam in Hesse than in 2022. This means that the dams are approaching the pre-corona years, although this level has not yet been fully reached. After evaluating the current ADAC dust balance, motorway users in 2023 included 35,369 hours in traffic jam (2022: 25,251 hours, 2019: 39,323 hours).
The figures show that the traffic approaches the pre-corona level again compared to the pandemic period. Due to the increasing traffic volume in rush hour traffic and during the holidays, the length of the Hessian traffic jams in 2023 added up to a total of 71,762 kilometers (2022: 52,770 km). The ADAC counted an average of around 120 traffic jam events every day, which corresponds to a total of 43,791 reports in 2023 (2022: 33,643). In addition, it was built to a large extent on the Hessian highways. Average 114 construction sites were set up in 2023 per month. In the good weather months of May to September, this number even rose to more than 140 per month.
The point of view can be observed, especially in the morning commuting towards metropolitan areas as well as on long weekends and during the holiday season. According to Wolfgang Herda, the ADAC Hessen-Thuringia traffic expert, many people have drawn from the cities in recent years due to high rents and have to accept longer journey routes. In addition, the proportion of heavy goods traffic continues to increase.
The top 3 traffic jam sections in Hesse are the same as in the previous year. In the first place, the A643 between the Wiesbaden-Dotzheim and Schiersteiner Straße junctions with a total of 2,135 hours of traffic jam. In second place is the A44 from the Kassel-West to the Kassel Süd Kassel-West with 1,574 hours of traffic jam and third place the A7 from the Hattenbacher Dreieck to the Kirchheim junction with 1,391 hours of traffic jam.
The most steady day in Hesse in 2023 was October 20, the beginning of the autumn holidays. On this day, vacationers, commuters and professional drivers were stuck in a total of 862 hours. Places two and three were also October 25th and 27th in the autumn holidays. The longest single backlog occurred on December 4th on the A60, where the traffic between the Rüsselsheimer Dreieck and the triangle of Nahe valley occasionally damaged up to 40 kilometers length.
In a nationwide comparison, Hessen is only in the middle of the field in terms of the number of stores despite its central importance in national traffic. Around 10 percent of the nationwide total kilometers are eliminated in Hesse. In relation to the existing motorway kilometers, the number of jams in Hessen is 35 stores per kilometer (2022: 25 hours/km). The leaders are the city -states of Berlin and Hamburg with a value of 228 or 159 stores per kilometer.
For 2024, drivers in Hesse must continue to expect traffic jams and stagnant traffic in rush hour traffic and during vacation times. According to Wolfgang Herda, the bus, train or tram could provide relief, but only if politics and operators work on reliability and quickly expand existing routes. In addition, it is important to promote the expansion of the cycling fast paths. In addition, all road users should form a rescue alley when the traffic stalls.
In 2023 there was a strong increase in the dustage in Hesse compared to the previous year. Drivers were stuck in a total of 35,369 hours, which corresponds to an increase of around 40 percent. The congestion of the congestion is approaching the 2019 level again, although it has not yet been reached.
Traffic in Hesse has increased significantly compared to the pandemic period, especially in rush hour and during the holidays. In total, over 71,000 kilometers were measured in 2023, which corresponds to an increase of over 35 percent compared to the previous year. The ADAC registered an average of 120 congestion events per day, which corresponds to a total of 43,791 reports in 2023

Compared to other federal states, Hessen is in the middle of the field with his skills. The fault in Hesse was 3523 at 35 stores per motorway kilometer, while the city -states of Berlin and Hamburg were the leaders with values of 228 and 159 stores per kilometer.
In terms of the coming years, the ADAC expects the congestion in Hesse to remain high. In particular during rush hour traffic and during vacation times, traffic jams and storm traffic can be expected. The expansion of public transport such as bus, train and tram could bring relief, provided that politics and operators ensure reliability and a rapid expansion of the routes. In addition, the expansion of the cycling fast paths should be promoted.
It remains important that all road users form a rescue alley in the event of a stem. Vehicles on the extreme left lane should avoid left, while vehicles should switch to the right in the other lanes.
