15-year-old causes accident with rental cars in Rhineland-Palatinate

Berlin/Linz. On July 21, a 15-year-old youth from North Rhine-Westphalia caused a traffic accident in Rhineland-Palatinate. The young person had previously traveled to Berlin by train to borrow a quick rental car. By specifying false personal details, he managed to take over an Audi Q2. In the following days he lends the vehicle to at least four other young people between the ages of 15 and 18, all of which come from the Neuwied district.

The incident occurred when the Audi Q2 accidentally accidentally ancient the L252 between Kretzhaus and Bruchhausen on Friday morning. There were no people on site in the accident. However, the vehicle was no longer ready to drive and property damage of 10,000 euros occurred.

The police were able to determine the owner of the vehicle, which is a rental car company in Berlin. The facts were also uncovered. Criminal proceedings for driving without driving license and traffic accident escape were initiated against the 15-year-old youth and the four other people.

The vehicle was driven in the public traffic area a total of 1740 kilometers before the accident occurred. The police already know the names of the people involved.

It remains questionable how a 15-year-old could be borrowed from lending a rental car and then passed it on to other young people. The exact circumstances are still being examined.
