Future of flying: Germans rely on climate -neutral technologies
In an exciting new survey by Easyjet, there is a clear trend: the Germans do not want to do without flying! And the message is clear - especially the younger generations rely on emission -free flying and are even ready to pay more for environmentally friendly alternatives. An exciting journey into the future of travel has started!
carried out by OnePoll in August 2024, in which 2000 German consumers took part, the survey revealed that the topic of environment and climate change is now more important for passengers than ever. With a look into the future, many of the technological breakthroughs that could make it possible to enjoy the advantages of flying without negative effects on our planet.
Technological hopes of the young generation
In particular, the boys show bright trust in innovative solutions! A total of 41 percent of 18- to 24-year-olds and 46 percent of 25- to 34-year-olds are convinced that fabulous hydrogen aircraft are the answer to the urgently needed decarbonization of air traffic. In comparison, the older generations are somewhat more reserved: only 27 percent of those surveyed over 55 years of believe in the miracles of this technology.
Trust in the future varies regionally: People in Lower Saxony (70 percent), Berlin (66 percent) and Saxony-Anhalt (65 percent) are particularly optimistic. In other federal states such as Saarland (39 percent) and Rhineland-Palatinate (44 percent), on the other hand, skepticism is noticeable.
Environmentally conscious flight booking in the trend
When choosing the airline, the ecological footprint plays an increasingly central role! Easyjet, as a pioneer in the industry, has set itself the task of making flying affordable for everyone and at the same time promoting environmentally friendly solutions. The survey shows that 79 percent of all respondents want to learn more about the environmental impact of their airline.
The difference in payment is particularly striking: While only 21 percent of 18 to 24 year olds and 23 percent of 25 to 34 year olds are unable to spend more for environmentally friendly flights, the more than 55-year-olds are 42 percent! A clear indication that younger travelers are willing to take responsibility.
In order to further drive the movement towards environmentally friendly flying, the younger ones are particularly urging that politics become more active and declares change into a more sustainable aviation as a top priority. Nine out of ten respondents from 18 to 24 year olds and 88 percent of 25 to 34 year olds support this call. A clear sign that the young generation also relies on cooperation!
With the presentation of his "Net Zero" roadmap, Easyjet has already taken the first step into an emission-free future. The company plans to reach NOLLO NOLL emissions by 2050, supported by fleet renewal and the use of sustainable fuels. The latest partnership with Jet Zero aims to develop an incredible hybrid prototypical aircraft with blended wing body that can be operated with hydrogen. An absolute gamuchanger for the aviation industry!
This survey is not just a look at the opinions of the Germans, it is a strong wake -up call for the entire industry - time to take responsibility and to make the future of flying environmentally friendly!
