Zoo Berlin closed: Maul and claw disease keeps animal fans away!
The Zoo Berlin, one of the hottest excursion destinations in the capital, remains closed for the time being due to the outbreak of the mouth and claw disease (MKS). This drastic decision came into force from the weekend (January 11/12) after the disease was found in a buffalo herd in Hönow in Brandenburg. The infection, which mainly affects the banks of the couple such as pigs, cattle and their animal relatives, including giraffes and elephants, leads to a high risk of infection.
like Berlin Live , both the zoo and the zoo have taken immediate security measures. Although MKS is not transferable to humans, there is a risk that the pathogens will get into the animals via clothing or other objects and thus become a massive risk. Many animal lovers who were looking forward to encounters with the popular mini hippos or panda twins now have to do without a visit until further notice.
