Censorship of Lindenberg's Hit: Cultural struggle at the Humboldt Forum!

Berlin, Deutschland - The Humboldt Forum Foundation has decided to censorship from the Udo Lindenberg classic "Special Zug to Pankow". The lyrics are now adjusted by replacing the word "Oberindianer" by "Ober-I", since many perceive it as discriminatory and racist by many. This was decided after an open discussion with choirs and the artistic direction. The foundation explained that it took this view seriously and respect.

The decision, however, is met with sharp criticism. Bundestag Vice President Wolfgang Kubicki describes censorship as culturalless and demands that the freedom of art are defended. He expects a clear statement by Minister of Culture Claudia Roth. Historian Hubertus Knabe and CDU politician Ottilie Klein also commented negatively about the measure. Klein emphasizes that it is grotesque to censor a song that mocks the dictatorial SED regime. The debate about censorship raises questions about freedom of art and cultural sensitivity, while the discussion about Lindenberg's influence and the limits of artistic freedom continues.
