Würzburg ophthalmologists celebrate records at DOG Congress in Berlin!

Würzburg, Deutschland - NAG/NAG Redaktion - The German Ophthalmological Society (DOG) reports a record for its 122nd Congress in Berlin: over 3,183 fäterlievers and 5,001 visitors. The eye clinic of the Würzburg University Hospital shone with five out of seven award -winning posters, including outstanding awards for Dr. Johanna Theuersbacher and Dr. Malik Salman Haider. Haider also received the poster price for innovative micellar formulations with the anti -inflammatory active ingredient dexamethasone. This new form of therapy could offer serious advantages in ophthalmology to treat inflammation.

Julian Schwebler was awarded the SICCA sponsorship award for his research on conjunctiva diseases. His work aims at more efficient treatment by hydrogel drug delivery systems. Dr. Theuersbacher also received a prize for her findings on fusarium ceratitis, a serious corneal infection. It gets really exciting with Dr. Raoul Verma leading: His hydrogel has the potential to reduce complications in glaucoma surgery and prevent postoperative scarring, which could significantly improve the results of the operations.
