Appreciations and future strategies: Reception for works council members in Kreuzberg
On Friday, October 10, 2025, the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district office, in collaboration with the DGB district association, is hosting a reception for works and staff councils. The aim of this event is to honor the voluntary commitment and expertise of the works and staff councils. District councilor Regine Sommer-Wetter will lead the event and present the district office's previous activities.
The agenda includes a review of previous initiatives for good work as well as a discussion about the training levy. In addition, workshops are planned that deal with current topics, including the digitalization of works and staff council work, company integration management and the works council elections in 2026. Around 50 employee representatives have already registered, which promotes interactive exchange.
DIGITALIZATION OF WORKS COUNCIL WORK
Given the advancing digitalization, it is important to emphasize that this development is revolutionizing many areas of working life - especially communication, organization and collaboration. Works councils can make their work more efficient and transparent by using digital tools. This is particularly relevant in times when home offices and mobile workplaces are becoming increasingly common. The digitalization of works council work not only strengthens the committees' ability to act, but also offers new opportunities for more effective collaboration, especially for central roles within the committees such as assistant and works council chairman, which need to develop further.
Digital tools like BRbase make organizational tasks easier and create space for content work and strategic planning. Digitalization also ensures clarity in processes, which strengthens the position of everyone involved in the team. The use of such tools proves to be necessary in order to master the challenges of digital change and to actively shape participation in social, personnel and economic matters.
An important instrument in this context is the Digital Works Council Quick Check, which supports works and staff councils in identifying their design options and recognizing new areas of action. Using a questionnaire, he helps the committees plan their strategic realignment and further development. The topics range from the design of good digital work to new forms of cooperation between interest groups and employees, which cover the expanded scope of works and staff council work in the digital age.
These topics are also reflected in the workshops at the upcoming event, which underlines the relevance of digital transformation for works council work. The quick check not only addresses the current challenges, but also offers perspectives for future developments in the digital working world. To improve processing, the questions from the quick check can be reflected upon collectively in moderated group work.
