Woidke against AfD: Brandenburg's choice shows cracks in political trust

A election campaign full of drama! The CDU general secretary Carsten Linnemann sums it up: Brandenburg is at a turning point! "Woidke or AfD" - this is the crucial question that the voters polarized than ever before. The incumbent SPD Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke managed to mobilize a huge electorate, even made CDU supporters put on the SPD just to keep the AfD in check!

But the result is a bitter setback for the CDU! In just a few weeks, the AfD has repeatedly cracked the 30 percent mark in elections-an alarm sign! "We all have to ask ourselves the question - we also in the federal government - what can we do?" Asks Linnemann in an interview with Phoenix, and justified!

a dangerous trend!

The answer from Woidke, who strives to achieve a "majority without edges", seems obvious. But Linnemann warns: "This cannot be a policy approach for the future." A call that makes many notice! "We have to tackle the real problems of the citizens and not only prevent others from being chosen!"

Jan Redmann, the CDU top candidate in Brandenburg, collects the election evening with devastating words: "A very bitter evening!" And rightly so! In 45 percent of the voters, the AfD apparently chose the political outskirts - a sign of the failed trust in the established parties. A challenge that cannot be ignored!

A look into the future: The CDU holds Friedrich Merz as a candidate for chancellor. But can this course regain voters? It is a race against the time, a struggle for the loyalty of the electorate and the return to the real concerns of people!
