Where living is expensive: the shocking property tax rankings 2023!
A brand new ranking of "House and Grund" shows shocking differences in property tax in Germany! While the residents in Regensburg got away from tax costs with only 335 euros a year, citizens in Witten in Witten in the Ruhr area have to pay a whopping 771 euros - this is the highest burden across the country. In comparison, Berlin with 686 euros and Hamburg with 458 euros in the upper rows of the most expensive cities.
The ranking reveals that the southern Europeans in particular are lucky, while the West Germans are literally asked to pay! While Bavaria (419 euros/year) and Baden-Württemberg (428 euros/year) are considered tax bargains, the Berliners (686 euros/year) and the North Rhine-Westphalia (556 euros/year) have to dig deep into their pockets. Haus & Grund President Kai Warnecke is concerned about the increasing municipal lifting rates, which could soon continue to drive up housing costs.
