Whistleblower unveiled: uncensored RKI protocols about Corona measures
revelations about the RKI: a deep insight and the lack of reaction from the media
Last Tuesday morning, the freelance journalist Aya Velázquez in Berlin presented the full, uncensored protocols of the Robert cook institute (RKI) for the Pandemie years at a press conference. A whistleblower gave her these explosive documents. For the first time, all controversial session protocols of the Corona expert council of the RKI were made fully public.
These revelations have the potential to have profound effects on public discussion and political decisions. Because the protocols show clear discrepancies and give reason to check past measures and decisions. For example, statements are made in the protocols of November 5, 2021: "In the media, a pandemic of the unvaccinated people are spoken. Not correct from a technical point of view. Is that contributes to this. Should this be taken up in communication?"
The slow reaction of the German leading media
Remarkable was the hesitant reaction of the great German media to these revelations. While smaller and alternative media reported almost immediately, it took until the evening of the same day until larger media such as ARD and ZDF published the first reports. The relevance of the information was partially played down or distorted. For example, ZDF initially only reported on the outrage of the RKI about the leaks without responding to the content.
Only the following Wednesday also gave larger print and leading media such as the Süddeutsche Zeitung (SZ) of reporting, but in their articles often emphasized the perspective of the criticized and confirmed the official narratives of the government.
controversial voices and a lack of processing
One of the most interesting revelations concerns dealing with publicly sensitive information and the decision -makers. An entry of July 29, 2020 shows that an article by Christian Drosten, a prominent virologist, has not been published because "unsolicited testing in the text is not considered sensible and this contradicts government action."
While Drosten and other prominent actors such as the Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach do not see any major problem, the question remains why such relevant information was withheld from the public. Rather, it shows how communication was partially manipulated and controlled during pandemic.
The explosive of the knowledge and the necessary consequences
The published RKI protocols have an enormous meaning from a scientific and social point of view. They require a thorough processing and possibly even the formation of an investigation committee to clarify the contradictions and questions. Passages such as: "From outbreaks of old people's home (exposure for everyone) are particularly explosive that the effect of vaccination is rather overestimated. Difficult subject should not be formulated in the vaccination report." (October 26, 2022).
The role of politics and media: lessons and forward views
Politics could have prevented such a situation through more transparency and honest communication. A clear and independent processing of decisions and measures during pandemic is essential to regain the trust of the population. Stronger control mechanisms and closer cooperation with independent media could help avoid similar developments in the future.
For the future, it is crucial that governments and media are working together on an open information exchange and the role of the media is strengthened as "fourth violence" in democracy. This is the only way to recognize errors from the past and prevent a repetition.
