WDR films Elsberg thriller Helix: Filming started in Berlin
The filming of the new television film "Helix" of the ARD/WDR are currently being produced in Berlin and the surrounding area. The thriller is based on Marc Elsberg's bestseller novel of the same name and tells the story of a BKA personnel protector who desperately fights to fulfill her desire to have children. At the same time, the film treats the unscrupulousness of global corporations in dealing with genetic engineering and examines the opportunities and moral limits of this technology at the current state of research.
The leading role of personal protector Helen Schilling is embodied by Svenja Jung ("Der Palast"), while Hannes Jaenicke ("The Amsterdam-Krimi") plays the controversial Minister of Economics and Environment Richard Bauer. Further top -class cast comprises Samuel Finzi ("The Wedding"), Marie Bloching ("Die Discounter"), Mina Tanger ("Unterpower") and others. The film leads to Elmar Fischer, a multi -award -winning director, based on the script by Jörg Tensing.
The film's action revolves around a press date in which Minister Richard Bauer suffers a seizure and dies before the eyes of the journalists. It quickly becomes clear that the minister has fallen victim to a crime. In the course of the investigation, Helen gets into a highly explosive plot that reveals a war for the dominance of gene research and its ethical borders. At the same time, Helen fights privately with a genetically inheritable, deadly illness and opts for illegal germination therapy abroad to meet your desire to have children. But soon the events escalate and Helen wonders who uses them as a game ball in a sophisticated plan.
According to "Zero","Helix" is the second novel by Marc Elsberg, which was filmed by the WDR in collaboration with the producer Nicole Swidler and Fritjof Hoagen. The radiation of the film in the first and in the ARD media library is planned for autumn 2024. The film's editorial team lies in the hands of Götz Vogt (WDR).
