The Berlin police announced that there was a possible sighting of the Löwin in southern Berlin near the city border with Brandenburg. Over 100 emergency services are in use at Kleinmachnow, including a helicopter, veterinarians and hunters who support the search.
The focus of the search is initially in the areas of Teltow, Kleinmachnow and Stahnsdorf. The residents were warned not to leave their apartments, even over loudspeaker announcements. A spokesman for the West police department confirmed the incident. The police were informed by witnesses after midnight. Videos that have been received by the police should show how Löwin hunted and hunted a wild boar. The officials sought helicopters with thermal imaging cameras at night and confirmed the viewing of the animal.
The police are currently checking several forest pieces, to which residential areas also adjoin. So far, however, neither a predator nor a dead or injured wild boar have been discovered. The police learned from the wild animal by witnesses who reported that a wild animal had chased and hunted a wild boar. There are also video recordings from the animal. According to the previous assessment and the testing of the video, the police assume that the wild animal is a lioness.
It is not yet known where the Löwin comes from. Zoos, zoo, circus and animal welfare facilities have been checked and no missing Löwin is reported. The police are in action with the veterinary office and hunting tenants.
The municipality of Kleinmachnow on the southern outskirts of Berlin has around 20,000 inhabitants. The daycare centers remain open, but the children shouldn't go into the garden. The town hall also remains open, but the dealers on the market were recommended not to build their stands.
The mayor of Kleinmachnow, Michael Grubert (SPD), called on the citizens to be careful and emphasized that no panic was appropriate. He assumes that the video circulating is real and it is a real wild animal. Citizens should restrict their activities outside the house, such as no jogging or cycling. However, he believes that there is no direct danger to the citizens in Kleinmachnow and the police have the situation under control.
The mayor announced that everything would be done to numb the lionin and not to kill. Killing would be an extreme emergency measure. No traps are currently being set up.
The search for the lioness continues and the residents are asked to follow the instructions of the police and to keep calm.
