Forest inventory: sustainable solutions instead of political games
Forest inventory: sustainable solutions instead of political games
Berlin, a hot topic is bubbling in the political arena! The fourth Federal Forest Inventory was presented today by Federal Minister of Agriculture Cem Özdemir and already cook the emotions over! The speakers of the CDU/CSU, Albert Stegemann and Hermann Färber are anything but enthusiastic about the political instrumentalization of the results. In sharp words they bring their concerns to the traffic light coalition!
Stegemann expresses it clearly: "The results show massive regional differences in the state of our forests. We can only effectively protect the forest and the climate by sustainable forestry and the use of climate -packed tree species!" But Özdemir, the criticism is compacting that the Federal Forest Inventory only wants to abuse for its political ambitions. "Additional rigid regulations and bureaucracy are the wrong way! Our forest farmers need freedom to fully exploit the potential for climate protection and biodiversity," says the CDU politician.
forest conversion in danger!
The words of Hermann Färber are no less explosive. He criticizes the traffic light coalition and demands a determined preliminary constraint: "The fourth Federal Forest Inventory clearly shows that we have to act faster here! Instead, the coalition is planning to reduce funds for reforestation and climate-stable forest conversion. From 125 million euros in the current year, you want to go down to 100 million euros in the Federal Budget 2025!"
Another bang is the uncertainty about financing from the climate and transformation fund (KTF). Färber puts his finger in the wound and requires a clear and reliable support for forest owners: "We urgently need a special framework plan for the GAK means to ensure forest conversion. In addition, the reactivation of the forest climate fund is essential in order to advance the necessary research on the climate adjustments!"
The background to this heated debate: The CDU/CSU parliamentary group presents itself as the voice of the middle in parliament, with a clear commitment to freedom, cohesion and personal responsibility. But the challenges in the area of forestry are huge and demand for immediate action!
