Be careful, fraudsters are just around the corner: competitions turn out to be a trap!
The world of bargains is not only tempting, but also dangerous! Criminals are targeting the trap of unsuspecting consumers. According to the recent reports, including Berlin Live, customers of the discounter action are targeted by so -called cybercriminals. A supposed competition published on the Facebook page "Action Fans" promised a shopping voucher as a surprise prize. But ultimately the participants remained empty -handed and their personal data.
As it turned out, it was a fake-gain play to lead to supposed "puzzles". Anyone who could guess the right number in a black and white striped picture was asked to reveal personal information. The fraudulent contribution received a total of over 300 comments from potential victims and has been liked over 70 times. Investigative journalists revealed that users will soon be pushed to reveal their places of residence and other private information, which could ultimately lead to unwanted advertising emails.
fraud stitches on the phone
The Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) warns of another, similar fraud stitch that mainly affects older people. The perpetrators are on the phone as lawyers or notaries and inform those called about an alleged profit that can only be paid out if fees are paid beforehand. These call again and again and put their victims under pressure, even after money has already been transferred. Even in financial need, those affected should be made to take out loans in order to be able to make the required payments. These methods illustrate how perfidious and multifaceted crime is in these areas and represent a serious threat to consumers.
The campaigns to clarify the population about such fraud stitches are more important than ever. Particularly attentive consumers can help protect others from the common tricks of the fraudsters. Such fraud attempts may already be suffocated in the germ with vigilant behavior!
