Focus on bird protection: anti -collision systems for wind turbines in Berlin
Berlin in the sign of bird protection! At an exciting final conference of the Nature Conservation and Energy Occupational Competence Center (KNE) in Berlin, around 100 participants discussed the future of anti -collision systems to wind energy systems. The topic attracted experts: inside, system providers and interested experts who all had one thing in mind: the protection of our feathered friends!
anti -collision systems (AKS) are more than just technical gimmicks - they are vital measures to avoid bird collisions. Since 2018, the KNE has been pursuing the big goal of providing wind energy without natural damage. The finishing touches on the research and development project "Anti-Collision systems in practice" caused a lot of interest and insightful discussions among the participants!
renewal of the framework conditions
The KNE project manager Dr. Elke Bruns, who described a dramatic paradigm shift in popular sayings! The new Federal Nature Conservation Act has significantly influenced the use of AKS. Before that, the wind power plants at unfavorable locations threatened expensive and uneconomical shutdown, but now by the new rules, a reasonable handling of the loss of yield is required!
The participants were made aware of the key topics of availability and costs. The challenge? The number of market -available systems is large, but not overwhelming. So it is high time that the installation of AKS is safely and valid!
A look at the available systems is promising: some of these systems have already proven their functionality and join a seamlessly into a comprehensive protection concept. All the more important is a uniform test frame for AKS that has already been developed in Schleswig-Holstein. This sets the course for quality assurance and validation of this technology!
economy and future prospects
The Nevertheless, challenges remain. Kne-Rechterspronentin Jenny Lassmann and Tim Steinkamp from Arsu GmbH designed an idea of AKS in which even extreme assumptions about loss of yield could belong to the past! They presented current data that prove that the fears of high losses of income could turn out to be unfounded! The mood was optimistic and combative! Despite the challenges, a general consensus was recognized: The numerous options for improving the application are there. And at suitable locations, the systems should definitely be used! dr. However, Elke Bruns warns: The mechanisms of the law are often cumbersome, and the prospect of profound changes in the rules remains low. Nevertheless, the hope for a good cooperation between nature conservation and wind energy remains strong and lively! For all those who want to learn more about bird protection, wind energy and the innovative anti -collision systems, the KNE could be a valuable source. Together for a green future!
