The student Massed Maria S. was found dead in the Teltow Canal in Adlershof. The police said in the evening that around 3:50 p.m. a passerby discovered a driving body and alerted the police and fire brigade. Maria S. had left her apartment in a student dormitory in Adlershof on July 22nd and has not been seen since then. The police carried out intensive search measures in which dogs and divers were also used. In addition, over 500 volunteers took part in joint searches that took place several times a day.

The Berlin police received almost 120 information on the disappearance of the young woman. The case also attracted a lot of attention in Mexican media. Maria's parents commented on the search measures in several television interviews. Even Mexico's President Andrés Manuel López Obrador commented on the investigation in a press conference in his homeland.

hours before the report of the death of Maria S., around 150 people gathered in front of the Mexican embassy in Berlin to show their solidarity with family and friends. Many people from the Latin American community were present. Videos and photos of the 24-year-old were shown.
