The protection of the constitution in Germany is concerned about the increased occurrence of extremist groups in connection with propalestinian demonstrations and lecture hall occupations at German universities. In an interview with the ZDF magazine "Frontal", the President of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, Thomas Haldenwang, emphasized that such efforts should not be spread and should not get any space for agitation.
One of the observed groups is Young Struggle, a left-wing extremist Turkish-communist youth organization. In December 2023 it was involved in a lecture on the Free University of Berlin and, according to the current constitutional protection report, is considered one of the most active extremist actors in terms of mobilization, organization and participation in propalestinian assemblies.
The protection of the constitution has been determined by groups since the Hamas attack on Hamas and the Gaza War, which usually have few intersections. Anti-Semitism now combines these groups as a common ideology element. In addition to right -wing extremism and Islamist anti -Semitism, there are now also German left -wing extremist groups that position themselves on the part of the Palestinians and often on the part of Hamas. The extremists try to carry an anti -Semitic ideology in the middle of society, which represents a new threat.
The increasing spread of anti -Semitism in Germany is worrying. Last year alone, 5,164 crimes with anti -Semitic background were registered, including 148 acts of violence, mainly bodily harm. The President of the Protection of the Constitution, Thomas Haldenwang, emphasized in an interview with "Frontal" that this development in the land of the Holocaust is unbearable.
