Our hearts - a sound: documentary about the transformative power of the choral singing

cinema film "Our hearts - a sound" from July 24, 2024 on art.tv

The power of singing together is the focus of the new documentary "Our hearts - a sound". The film accompanies two choir directors and a choir director, as they create choirs of rousing musical intensity from a group of singing enthusiasts who could not be more different. Due to the unique symbiotic connection between the parties involved, the choral singing becomes a social adventure and a moment of self -realization alike.

The documentary by Torsten Striegnitz and Simone Dobmeier shows the choral singing as a platform that has to be brought into balance on the proximity and distance, identification and projection. Humanity is discovered in music, where the common sound experience becomes a feeling of parting a whole.

With great warmth and impressiveness, "Our hearts - a sound" emphasizes the unstoppable power of community in times of isolation and illustrates how music brings people together. The film shows that singing in the choir goes far beyond the purely musical and creates a deeper feeling of solidarity.
