The Senate intends to build a container village for 260 refugees shortly on this fallow unibles. However, this plan encounters resistance in the neighborhood. In particular at the Free University, there is resentment because the university itself is planning to build a building for teaching and research purposes at this point.

The refugee coordinator Albrecht Broemme of the State of Berlin informed the Chancellor of the Free University, Andrea Güttner, that he was planning to temporarily accommodate refugees on the site. The university management feels over and emphasized that it has not agreed to this measure. It is pointed out that the area is urgently needed for your own construction projects.

There have already been discussions about a possible alternative area for refugee accommodation, since the university is required for the university's building projects. 16 other locations for container villages in Berlin were also decided to meet the growing need for accommodation for refugees.
