Diverse program
The Modern Triennial is a national festival that takes place in the cities of Berlin, Dessau and Weimar. Numerous program items will be offered in Dessau and Weimar over the period from September 26th to 29th, 2025, while the Berlin program extends until mid-December 2025. The diverse offering includes tours, visits, exhibitions, installations, lectures, symposia, films, concerts as well as digital formats, workshops and discussions.
The thematic focus of the Berlin program is the reform movements of the 19th century, the emergence of the “Electropolis Berlin”, the new building of the 1920s and 1930s, post-war modernism in the East and West as well as the late modernism of the 1960s and 1970s. Another important aspect is the post-modernism of the 1980s.
Anniversaries and special events
The Triennale also focuses on important anniversaries. This includes the 100th anniversary of the horseshoe settlement, 80 years after reconstruction and 50 years of the European Heritage Charter. At the final conference, which takes place towards the end of the event period, the artistic and social significance of the topics will be discussed in greater depth.
