Osti/Wessi-Nähcafé with Nadja Buttendorf-new perspectives on German-German history

In the Galerie Adlershof in the Kulturzentrum Alte School in Berlin, the Ossi/Wessi Nähcafé with the artist Nadja Buttendorf will take place this autumn. This unusual art project invites you to deal with the terms "Ossi" and "Wessi" and to discover new perspectives on German-German history.

The sewing café offers the possibility to sew Nadja Buttendorf's turning sequins on your own clothes while a video tutorial serves as instructions. This creative action asks questions about identity, origin and the mutual stereotypes between East and West.

under the direction of Nadja Buttendorf and Juliane Schickedanz, the head of the Kunsthalle Osnabrück, the sewing workshop will take place on Saturday, September 14th, 2024. The participants will not only sew together, but also discuss the current production conditions in our globalized world.

The appointments for the Ossi /Wessi-Nähcafé are as follows:
-Saturday, 07.09.2024 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
-Saturday, 14.09.2024 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.-Saturday, 16.11.2024 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

This event is part of the KGB art week (August 30 to September 8, 2024) and is supplemented by the group exhibition "The kids are not Alright!" in the Adlershof gallery. This exhibition presents works by talented artists such as Nadja Buttendorf, Susan Donath, Sophia Hirsch, Florian Kunert, David Polzin, Oskar Schmidt and Anna Zett, all of whom deal with the effects of the turning events on their lives.

The Ossi/Wessi Nähcafé therefore offers a unique opportunity not only to work creatively, but also to enter into a dialogue about the historical and social dimensions of German-German history. Further information on this exciting project can be found on the websites of the artists involved.
