Full closure thanks to Gerosteig: diversion paths and construction work
In the 6th calendar week, drivers and residents in the area of Ortolfstraße from Dankmarsteig to Gerosteig have to expect traffic disruptions. The district office plans to block this section because of a danger point. The construction work is expected to be completed in the same week, depending on the weather.
The blocking not only affects car traffic, but also has an impact on local public transport and delivery traffic. Trucks are led from the Schönefeld Chaussee to Venusstrasse via a detour route. The public transport is also diverted via the Schönefeld Chaussee. However, pedestrians are not affected, and cyclists are asked to get off and use the sidewalk.
This lock is part of a larger project to improve traffic safety in the region. In recent years there have been more accidents and dangerous situations in this area, and the district office has decided to take urgently necessary measures. The exact type of danger site was not explained in more detail, but it can be assumed that it is street damage or similar problems.
The Ortolfstraße has a long history as an important connecting road in the region. It was already used as a trade route in the Middle Ages and has experienced numerous conversions and modernizations over time. The current blocking and the planned construction work are part of the continuous further development and maintenance of the road network.
The affected residents and commuters should adapt to possible delays and dates and plan alternative routes in good time. It is also advisable to pursue the local traffic news in order to stay up to date on any changes.
