Road safety: Trees in Baumschulenweg and Rahnsdorf have to fall
In the coming week, several trees will have to be felled in the Baumschulenweg and Rahnsdorf district to ensure traffic safety. In Rahnsdorf on March 25, 2024 on the Rhedaer Weg, a whine with the tree no. 7/1 fell because the tree has died. The circumference is 63 cm and the height of 8 m. On March 26, 2024 in Baumschulenweg in the cemetery, a Douglasia will be with the tree no. H6/19 felled.
Such measures of the road and green space are important to ensure the safety of passers-by and road users. Dead trees can be dangerous by falling branches or falling trunks and must therefore be removed.
Historically, tree care and maintenance in cities has a long tradition. Already in the Middle Ages, trees were planted in urban areas to donate shadows and to improve the air. Today tree protection plays an important role in urban environmental protection, since trees are of great importance not only for air purification, but also for the cityscape and the quality of life of the residents. The table below provides an overview of the felling in the coming week:
| Date | Location | Tree no. | Tree species | Extent (cm) | Height (m) | Falling reason |
| ———— | —————— | ---—-------———------—————
| 25.03.2024 | Rahnsdorf | 7/1 | Eberesche | 63 | 8 | Tree dead |
| 26.03.2024 | Baumschulenweg | H6/19 | Douglasie | - | - | - |
It is important that such measures of tree cases are regulated and carried out in urban space in order to ensure the safety of all citizens and at the same time to take into account the importance of trees for the city climate.
