Treptow-Köpenick: Citizen participation for the development of the retail concept

retail development in the Treptow-Köpenick district: citizen participation and future-proof structures

The district office Treptow-Köpenick has taken an important step to improve local supply by developing the update of the center and retail concept (ZEHK). This initiative is particularly relevant because it not only goes into the needs of the growing population, but also takes into account the challenges of modern retail in the digital age.

from 09. September until October 4, 2024 , all citizens are asked to actively participate in this process. Interested parties can view the current draft on the online platform Mein.berlin.de, ask questions and express their opinions. This participation is a central component of the draft process, which aims to receive broad public approval and feedback.

The development of the Zehk is a reaction to the changing framework conditions in retail, which are characterized by a dynamic population growth and the increasing shift of purchasing power to online trading. The challenges for stationary business are enormous, which is why strategic planning is necessary to control and promote retail. The concept includes clear goals and guidelines that were developed in close cooperation with representatives from politics, business and various specialist offices of the district.

The goal of updating is to make the urban centers future -proof and to further develop the local supply structures. It is particularly important that the concerns of the citizens are focused on. Citizen participation offers a valuable opportunity to include local perspectives and wishes in the planning, which can lead to better acceptance of the measures.

After completing the citizen participation, the information received will be evaluated. The final version of the concept is to be created by the end of 2024 and decided by the responsible committees, which will lead to a binding framework planning for retail in the district.

In addition, the district office will regularly inform about progress and current developments on suitable websites. For citizens who want to ask questions directly, the contact details of Cima Advice + Management GmbH are available:
