Strong paths for single parents: Workshop on the professional future in Berlin

On Thursday, September 25, 2025, an interactive workshop entitled “Self-determined paths – Find your strengths for your career” will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event that takes place in the Ingeus GmbH, Rudower Chaussee 12 a, 12489 Berlin, is aimed specifically at single mothers and fathers. The aim of the workshop is to strengthen and accompany this target group on their way to a self-determined professional future.

The content of the workshop includes the recognition and targeted use of personal strengths as well as practical tips on the different phases of a job interview. In addition, space is created for exchange, mutual support and network contacts. On-site child care is available to make attendance easier for participants. This event is part of the focus year “Strong Connections – A Year for Single Parents”, which focuses on the compatibility of family and work.

Support for single parents

Single parents face special challenges that affect both family and professional aspects. According to information from DGB Many of them have limited opportunities for further training and advancement because they often work less than they would like. Statistics show that 83% of single parents in Germany are women, 42% of whom work full-time. The challenge of organizing family and work often requires special support, especially in the form of childcare and flexible working hours.

The “AIDA” project is also aimed at single parents returning to work and offers comprehensive support in the application process as well as in everyday practical areas of life. The initiative includes communication training, IT skills, self- and time management as well as accompaniment to offices and authorities. Through a three-stage course model, participants learn important skills to develop their own professional goals while taking their family situation into account. The final internship provides insight into desired careers and makes it easier to enter professional life.
