Solidarity with Ukraine: Flag before town hall Treptow Saved

On February 24th, the war of attack will be against Ukraine for the second time. On this occasion, the district mayor of Treptow-Köpenick, Oliver Igel, announced that the national flag of Ukraine in front of the Treptow town hall is being hoisted to show solidarity with Ukraine. This is done against the background of the escalating violence and the humanitarian crisis caused by the Russian invasion.

The decision to reduce the Ukrainian flag is a symbolic act that illustrates the support and attachment of the district of Treptow-Köpenick with Ukraine. In particular, the suffering of the population in the war region and especially friends in the special school No. 6 in Dolyna and in the village of Muzychi is pointed out.

The conviction of the violation of Ukrainian sovereignty and the disregard for international law by Russia is the focus of the campaign. The District Office of Treptow-Köpenick clearly speaks against the Russian invasion and supports the efforts of Ukraine for territorial integrity and a European future.

To underline the desire for permanent peace in Ukraine, the Ukrainian national flag will blow in front of the town hall and thus send a sign of solidarity. This act should help to draw attention to the difficult situation in Ukraine and to raise awareness of the need for a peaceful approach.

It is important that solidarity with the victims of war and violence is also shown at local level. Through symbolic actions such as the hoist of the national flag, communities and institutions can express their support for people in need.

| Information on Ukraine |
| - |

It is important that the international community stands together to solve conflicts such as those in Ukraine and to promote peace and stability in the region. Such actions and expressions of solidarity can make a contribution to improving the situation on site and a permanent peace can be achieved.
