Schöneweide is becoming the future: the first Biennale of Futures starts!
The first Schöneweider Biennale of the Future, under the title “FUTURA – My Love”, opens its doors from September 5th to October 5th, 2025 in Berlin-Schöneweide. The aim of the biennale is to address the future in everyday life and to actively promote dialogue within the neighborhood. It is described as an open forum for creative future solutions that will offer a variety of events and formats.
The event takes place at various locations in Schöneweide, including the central location, the Industriesalon Schöneweide, as well as the Peter-Behrens-Halle and the surrounding area. Here visitors can expect over 30 activities, ranging from workshops and readings to theater performances and evening events. Entry to all events is free, making the Biennale accessible to a wide audience of people with questions, ideas or just curiosity. [Berlin.de].
Artistic experiments and urban interventions
Another focus of the Biennale is on unconventional works of art that invite you to participate. Global trends are critically examined in discourses and workshops. Creative food for thought in the form of improv theater and co-creation is also planned. These formats are not only intended to stimulate thought, but also to invite active participation. Schöneweide becomes a laboratory for new perspectives and creative experiments that reinterpret urban space.
The Biennale is organized in cooperation with local partners, including the University of Technology and Economics (HTW) and the SchöneVibes collective. This collaboration is intended to ensure that the initiative is shaped by the needs and interests of local residents. In addition to the artistic aspects, great emphasis is also placed on cultural participation, which is promoted through programs such as DRAUSSENSTADT. IKTF took over the accompanying research in order to analyze and support the creation and implementation of the biennale.
Invitation to participate
With “FUTURA – My Love”, the biennale wants to create an environment in which citizens can actively participate in shaping their urban future. The huge range of activities promises to bring people together and promote creative exchange. For further information and current program updates, those interested can visit the Biennale website and find out about the planned events.
The Biennale of Futures is therefore a significant event that not only brings art and culture into the public space, but also serves as a platform for new ideas and perspectives. Berlin-Schöneweide becomes a venue where questions about the future are researched and creative solutions are developed together.
