Rap & Vote: Young people design EU elections with rap songs
The festival for democracy in Berlin is imminent and the district office Treptow-Köpenick has launched the “Rap & Vote” project with its partners to prepare 16- and 17-year-olds for the upcoming European elections on June 9. 60 young people from various 10 classes in Treptow-Köpenick have worked intensively on the topic of EU and EU elections for a week and implemented it creatively. Schools such as the Fritz Kühn School and the Evangelical School of Köpenick took part and developed four rap songs and choreographies that are performed publicly at the festival for democracy in Schönweide. The audience has the opportunity to choose the winning group. It is recommended to come by to cheer on the young people and support their favorites.
In Berlin, events and projects take place regularly that are intended to promote the political and social awareness of the citizens. The festival for democracy is a good opportunity to find out about political issues and actively participate. The participation of young people in such projects can help strengthen interest in politics and democracy and to sensitize young people to the elections.
It is important that young people understand the value and meaning of democratic processes and elections early on. Through projects such as "Rap & Vote", young people gave the opportunity to creatively deal with political issues and to express their opinions and ideas in an artistic way.
