Treptow-Köpenick celebrates 5 years of Treptow-Köpenicker Bohne: Sustainability and partnership in focus
In Treptow-Köpenick, the 5th anniversary of the Treptow-Köpenicker Bohne is celebrated, a creation of Arabica-Bio and Fairtrade coffee. This special type of coffee is the result of a close cooperation between the Treptow-Köpenick-Cajamarca (AG Stäpa) and the Fairtrade Town campaign.
The Treptow-Köpenicker Bohne not only stands for delicious coffee enjoyment, but also for sustainable partnerships and global awareness. It illustrates the effects of our consumer behavior on the world and the responsibility that goes hand in hand with it. Thanks to fair wages and better working conditions, the Peruvian small farmers and cooperatives benefit from this initiative.
District Mayor Oliver Igel emphasizes the importance of Treptow-Köpenicker Bohne as an example of local initiatives that can contribute to global goals. It stands in accordance with the goal 17 of the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development - partnerships to achieve the goals.
Uwe Bauer from the AG Cities Partnership Treptow-Köpenick-Cajamarca emphasizes that the Treptow-Köpenicker Bean is not only a pleasure for coffee lovers, but also a symbol for a tight and sustainable city twinning.
The Treptow-Köpenicker bean can either be ground or purchased as a whole bean and costs € 6 per 250 g. It is available in the world shops Köpenick and tree nurseries.
All citizens are cordially invited to try the Treptow-Köpenicker Bohne and celebrate the partnership-based cooperation between Treptow-Köpenick and Cajamarca.
