Exhibition »Generation of the Wall - an artistic look back«

On August 30, 2024 at 7 p.m., the exhibition »Generation of the Wall - An Artistic Blick Back« will open in the Adlershof Gallery in the Alte School Cultural Center. Admission is free, and visitors are very welcome to get a unique insight into the experiences and reflections of artists who were born in the 1980s and examine the effects of the turning events on their lives.

The focus is on the artistic work of this generation, socialization in the GDR and the questions about origin and identity. A critical look at political systems, social values and economic requirements shapes the works that make an important contribution to dealing with and coping with the reunification period.

As a child of the turning years, the artists offer a sensitive and personal insight into the challenges and opportunities associated with the upheaval after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Their perspectives enable visitors to look at the re -reunification time from a new and individual perspective.

The opening speech for the exhibition is held by representatives of the city, including the deputy district mayor for youth, André Grammelsdorff, as well as the gallery manager and curator, Dr. des. Meta Marina Beeck. In addition to the artistic works, visitors can expect a diverse supporting program with conversations, film screenings and workshops that deepen the topics of the exhibition and make them tangible.
