International weeks against racism: events in Treptow-Köpenick
The international weeks against racism are under the motto "Human rights for everyone" and take place from March 11th to 24th, 2024. In Treptow-Köpenick, too, numerous projects and institutions take part in this important initiative. Some of the planned events during this period include a neighborhood consultation at the Mandrellaplatz, a neighborhood walk in Adlershof as a sign against discrimination and exclusion, as well as an exhibition opening entitled "Žadkěvič and other-work, compulsion and resistance". Furthermore, a public leadership on the subject of football and Nazi compulsory work, collages against racism in the Rabenhaus, a meeting café in the community accommodation Alfred-Randt-Straße, a spring cleaning and garden action day in the Kiezklub Allende as well as various district walks and tours planned.
An outstanding event is the opening of the exhibition "Žadkěvič and others", which will take place on March 14, 2024 in the Nazi compulsory work. The exhibition illuminates the life of the Czech-Russian chemist Konstantin Žadkěvič, who worked at the Heldenheim company in Berlin-Tempelhof during the Second World War. Žadkěvič made contacts with forced laborers from all over Europe and planned together with them after the fall of the National Socialists for a united socialist Europe.
The neighborhood walk in Adlershof on March 14, 2024, in which a sign against discrimination and exclusion is to be set is also important. The visibility of discrimination is discussed with students of the Sor - Ela (AG) of the Anna Seghers school and young people from the Evangelical parish of Adlershof and raised awareness of the topic.
It can be seen how different communities and initiatives come together in Treptow-Köpenick in order to actively work for the fight against racism and discrimination. The variety of planned events offers residents and interested parties the opportunity to actively participate and to work for a fairer and inclusive society.
