Humor as a lifeline: group exhibition in the Adlershof Gallery!

On Friday, September 5, 2025, the Adlershof Gallery in Berlin will open its doors to an exciting group exhibition presenting 20 internationally active artists. The event starts at 7 p.m. at Dörpfeldstrasse 54-56, 12489 Berlin. According to a press release from the Treptow-Köpenick district office, the theme of the exhibition will be “Humor as an artistic strategy in an apocalyptic mood,” which is intended to open up new perspectives and enable laughter in places of fear and uncertainty. This promises an interesting dialogue about the role of humor in contemporary art.

The exhibition will be opened by the head of the cultural office, Annette Indetzki. Milena Mercer from the Treptow-Köpenick Municipal Galleries and Thorsten Alexander Kasper from the frontviews e.V. association will give an introduction to the concept. This exhibition is a continuation of a first chapter that was presented in December 2024 in the rooms of roam projects e.V. The artists come from eight different countries and bring diverse perspectives to the show.

Artists and their works

Participating artists include Gökçen Dilek Acay, Emma Adler, Johannes Albers, Benedikt Braun, Zuzanna Czebatul, Uros Djurovic and Frederik Foert. With such a wide range of talents and cultural backgrounds, the exhibition will present a multifaceted picture of contemporary work.

In addition, Gallery B2 will show new artistic positions from 2024, including works by Max Brück, Uta Koslik and Florian Merdes. Brück has made a name for himself through his themes of personal and collective memory as well as his studies at various academies. Koslik and Merdes, who each stand out for their innovative approaches to painting and photography, will also be part of the new exhibitions that the gallery plans to present in the coming year.

A look at the art fair world

In a broader context, art fairs worldwide show how contemporary art can be represented creatively, culturally and commercially. According to an article by Singulart, the top 50 art fairs in the world are platforms where both emerging and established artists can showcase their work. Events such as Art Basel in Switzerland and Frieze in London are particularly highly regarded and attract art lovers from all over the world.

The art scene experiences continuous change through such fairs and promotes important connections between artists, collectors and the audience. These trends also affect developments in Berlin, where venues such as Galerie Adlershof and Galerie B2 reflect the city's creative energy.
