Memorial events for the Holocaust Memorial Day in Berlin-Treptow-Köpenick 2024

On January 27, 2024, the victim of National Socialism is commemorated worldwide. The district office Treptow-Köpenick and various associations also organize various events as part of this commemoration. The parish and the Baumschulenweg citizens' association invite you to a reading in which Horst Selbinger reads from his book "Earth - Persecuted - Reads: Demolition of my life". A commemoration of the memory wall is held and there is a rally by the VVN-BDA Köpenick. There is also a public tour of the Köpenicker Blutwoche memorial. The cleaning of stumbling blocks in the area is also offered.

The reading from the book "Equal - Persistent - Reveling: Demolition of my life" will take place on January 26, 2024 at 6 p.m. in the parish hall of the church Baumschulenstr. 82 instead. This reading is particularly moving, since stumbling blocks for four members of the Selbinger family were laid on the Güldenhofer bank.

On January 27, 2024 at 5 p.m., the Alglienicke cemetery is commemorated by the sacrifices of National Socialist violence from concentration camps and killing institutions buried in 1360. The deceased belong to different nationalities, with over 400 deceased from Poland. Their names were written by 1,300 Berliners on the wall.

The VVN-BDA Köpenick organizes a rally at the memorial on the Memorial on April 23 (Faust) between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m.

Also on January 27, 2024 at 3 p.m. there will be a public tour of the Köpenicker Blood Week memorial, which is reminiscent of a previously unprecedented arrest and violent wave of the National Socialists.

Cleaning stumbling blocks in the area is another way to remember the victims of National Socialism. A list of places with stumbling blocks is available, with some stumbling blocks still need to be included in the list, such as the stumbling blocks for Maria Rosa Jockl in Brückenstr. 1 or for the Archenhold family at the Treptower observatory.

Overall, these events and actions offer a way to remember the victims of National Socialism and to keep the memory of them alive.
