Freiraum concept presented by the district axis of tree nurseries

A large number of green and open spaces in the heart of tree nursery path are to be upgraded, as was announced at the neighborhood advisory board meeting on April 16, 2024 of the living center Baumschulenstrasse-Köpenicker Landstrasse. The Freiraum concept quarters axis, presented by SWUP GmbH on behalf of the Treptow-Köpenick district, examines opportunities for the development of attractive places and green areas along an axis of public and semi-public institutions, as well as for adapting to climate change.

The public, local actors and administrations were included in the development process, which led to a future -oriented open space concept. This concept puts realizable goals for improving the freedom in a measure plan. Future projects for the implementation of the concept will be identified depending on financial resources and personnel resources.

The project "Freiaum axis Baumschulenweg" was accompanied at www.mein.berlin.de and can be viewed there, including the project documentation. All further information on the following measures of the open space concept will be published on the new website of the Baumschulenstraße-Köpenicker Landstrasse.

The planned upgrading of green and open spaces in tree nurseries in tree schools is improved and the adaptation to climate change is advanced. The close integration of the community in the planning process strengthens the feeling of local identity and participation. It remains to be seen how the implementation of the open space concept will shape the neighborhood in the long term.
