Lane of the Wegedornstrasse closed due to blow-up: fundamental renewal planned
The extreme summer weather has led to an unexpected street damage in Wegedornstrasse. A "blow-up" caused by the heat, forced the authorities to block a section between Semmelweisstrasse and the Ernst-Ruska bank to ensure the safety of road users.
A "blow-up" occurs when the concrete covering of the street extends at extreme temperatures and finally breaks open. This leads to the asphalt burst and the road is damaged. To prevent further damage, the area concerned is now completely renewed with asphalt.
The full closure is expected to take at least four weeks, depending on the ongoing votes with the conductors for water, gas and electricity. The BVG bus lines 160, 162 and 164 are diverted, and passengers are asked to keep an eye on the BVG interference detector.
The district office will inform the public about further developments as soon as new information is available. It is recommended to plan alternative routes and take into account the blocking of the affected section in order to avoid unnecessary delays.
