District office Treptow-Köpenick commissioned urban space with neighborhood block concept for Kungerkiez

The district office Treptow-Köpenick commissioned the city space office together with the Fairspaces office in June 2024 to develop an urban planning and open space concept for the development of the neighborhood block in the Alt-Treptow district. The concept, called "Kiezblock concept for the Kungerkiez" for short, is intended to improve the quality of stay and traffic in this area.

The Kungerkiez, located in Alt-Treptow, is known for its small-scale structure with various retail stores, catering operations and other traders along Karl-Knker-Straße. As early as September 2021 and May 2022, the district office was asked in a political manner to increase the Kungererkiez to traffic -calming and to increase the quality of stay through structural measures. This long -cherished wish of the district council and the residents should now become a reality through the introduction of the neighborhood block concept.

A neighborhood block is a traffic -calmed neighborhood in which, in addition to reducing traffic, a beautification of public space is also sought. The implementation of various measures should be upgraded in the Kungererkiez and increases the quality of stay. The office of urban space will include ideas and suggestions from the public together with the Fairspaces office to create a holistic concept.

The completion of the neighborhood block concept is planned for November 2024. Traffic counts are carried out to create a solid data basis for the proposed measures. The residents and population of the Kungerkiez therefore have the opportunity to actively participate in the design of their residential area and to bring their suggestions.

The development of the neighborhood block in the Kungerkiez is an important step to improve urban space and to create a livable environment for the residents. The planned measures not only increase the traffic situation more relaxed, but also the quality of life. The integration of the public and the participation of various actors are crucial for the success of the concept and the long -term development of Kungerkiez as a living and attractive residential area.
